The technical part behind the site

This website was first created with a CMS (Content Management System) called Light N Easy. It’s a great script for creating a website. The only downside is that I ended up having a bunch of scripts installed separately to make the site work. I loved the layout it had and the functionality but it was becoming stale. I looked into new options hoping to incorporate new functionalities to create a better experience. I tried many things. From big name CMS to smaller ones and even social networking solutions. What I wanted doesn’t exist and requires too much hacking of scripts to make it and I didn’t have much time to work on that level of coding.

Why WordPress? Well, I use WordPress for my personal website iniara.com. It’s easy to update and change layout without breaking the content. The problem I’ve had in the past with my website is that every time I hand coded a new layout, it was a tedious task to update the site. I don’t remember when but sometime 3 years ago or so I installed WordPress for the first time and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s beyond a blogging tool, it can be used for so many things and keeps everything nice and organized.

Around November last year I noticed The Red Realm was broken. The database went kapoot! I don’t know what happened and I didn’t really feel like looking into it so I rushed my plans to work on the site’s make over. WordPress was already installed so I decided to give it a go. Once everything looked nice, I started adding the content little by little during the holidays.

Although the website is essentially the same in form, the back end allows me much more freedom to evolve and it’s also nice to keep all my scripts in one folder with easy access.

Why am I explaining this? I’ve been involved in many forum discussions related to CMS and scripts and people have found this site thanks to that. This post is an explanation to why the site is now powered by WordPress. I thought this might be of use to someone. :)

Music makes the people come together

I just finished updating the music and links section. I can finally start recruiting more artists. I really want to expand and keep the content fresh. The site’s downtime really affected productivity and it doesn’t help that I don’t have a computer of my own. Lucky for me, I can do mostly anything with my smartphone.

I hope you enjoy the new look and feel of the site. The Red Realm is alive and well and it needs YOU to keep on growing.

Happy Fucking New Year!

A new year begins and I’m happy to announce that there’s finally some music. Holidays are almost over so the updates will resume.

Slowly this site should be as it was and hopefully even better. Happy 2010 everyone and thank you for your patience.

Eye Candy

The galleries are fully functional at last and the Theme Switcher works. I’m known to use the same color scheme pretty much all the time but each theme incorporates the same colors in a different way. I hope you like the new feature.

Next thing on the top of my to do list is add the music and links page but for now I’m happy to see the website with no broken pages. :)

Up and running

It’s taken a long time for this update but better late than never. I wanted a more clean cut look and organized way to update the site. Many things are still missing and I apologize for that. I just thought it would be better to publish what I have so far.

Stay tuned for more updates!
